Back in the groove again. Finally, a break in the weather has made it pos­si­ble for me to get into the stu­dio for more that just an hour or two. Some new things are begin­ning to take shape. My new series of draw­ings are on ivory rag paper with col­ored pen­cil. These are com­plete pieces in them­selves but are also pro­to­types for larger works. They explore the use of marks to cre­ate lay­ers of energy swim­ming between strings. The strings serve to map out time.

I cur­rently have four draw­ings in this group — all in progress. Unlike the pas­tel draw­ings which are made from a stand­ing pos­tion, these are small scale and drawn from a seated posi­tion. This has a con­sid­er­able influ­ence on the length of the stroke and the force of the marks.
