Stella Untalan’s minimalist drawings create unexpected landscapes. Each drawing is a combination of pastel, graphite, and charcoal with rhythmic marks of subtle hue, often escaping their self-imposed grid.

The distinct rhythms invite contemplation and exploration of places deep in memory, influenced by change of seasons.

This solo show also includes some smaller works in colored pencil.

A look at cosmic strings installed before the doors opened to visitors. I was surprised at how at home these drawings looked on this robins egg blue wall.

It was a terrific day with hundreds of visitors. My work got exceptional traffic placed between David Kesslers’ one day installation and the food. Conveniently located in the lounge area. Damini helped get the food, work, me, and Margaret there in plenty of time to hang and label the work. She was pretty handy for positioning the lights too.

It was an energizing evening. Thanks to the Midwives and all the friends that turned out. It was a blast.

This is a snap of my work at the Quattro Amici Show at Philadelphia Java company. It was a really fun experience showing with these great folks. The space has very nice lighting and great food! I feel that it’s a really important thing to show work where people can come an feel comfortable viewing the work. The gallery experience can be so intimidating.

I sold one piece and had a terrific time too!

Thanks to everyone that came out to see the work. Something new will be happening soon.
