Yes this is an old photo. But you’ll probably see this old configuration in the new studio.

I just moved a whole bunch of furniture into my art studio yesterday. A whole counter full of shallow drawers in which I can store supplies and papers. This is a huge improvement from my old studio. Now I don’t have to worry about materials being subjected to too much light from the southern exposure that I now have. The studio space is much cleaner in terms of dust but less exposure is always good for the materials.

The next thing is to attach a translucent cover to the tops and then place my 9 foot glass top as a work surface. This will make a great place for cutting, rolling out inks, mixing stuff and other assemble type activities.

I’ll be painting one of the walls this weekend to get everything white and bright.

I’ve made an opening large enough to roll my worktable in and out for when I want to use my 9 x 12 foot homosote drawing wall. This is where the larger drawings will be done. Pretty exciting.

Also, have flatfiles full of my paper and my completed drawings. Almost organized.

I’m getting excited to do a couple framing projects in there. One for a piece I sold in October.

This is the state of my studio right now.

I have been unable to get into the space and start getting things into their proper places. I hope to be able to do some work on the space this weekend. I want to be able to make some art!

I will be having a small show in late November through the new year with my art buds Carol Wisker, Howard Brunner, and Damini Celebre. More news to come.

This is a snap of my work at the Quattro Amici Show at Philadelphia Java company. It was a really fun experience showing with these great folks. The space has very nice lighting and great food! I feel that it’s a really important thing to show work where people can come an feel comfortable viewing the work. The gallery experience can be so intimidating.

I sold one piece and had a terrific time too!

I’m starting to move the drawings to their new flat files here and now I get to look at them again – reacquaint myself. Some will get frames and hang in the hallway to our office.

I had an excellent POST even though I didn’t really market my work. I still have one of my drawings to be framed and delivered to its new home.

Now the process of making a new space begins. I have so many drawings I want to make.

A few small sketches and my moleskine is almost full. I’ll be looking to turn some of these into letterpress cards for the holidays. Oo Ooo maybe they could be gifts too.

I did about 21 of these. I’m enjoying drawing when I’m not in the studio.
That could be very important as time goes on.

We are back from the annual retreat to the north country. We had a mix of weather and an absolutely wonderful time walking on pine needles and watching as the clouds enveloped us. We tossed plenty of logs on the fire, drank HOT coffee, tea, and Ovaltine.

When it was warm enough to wrap my hands around some kind of drawing tool I made sketches.
This is one that I made in my new Moleskine watercolor book. I really enjoyed using it. Many more images and stories to come.

I hope that you will join me the first weekend on October for POST and my last open studio event at sherman mills. I will be having a potluck/byob celebration. Open studios go from noon til 6 pm. I’ll be updating news here as it becomes available. I will have plenty of work for sale. Buy it and take it home so I don’t have to move it.
